At Hidden Valley Ski Team, we believe success is measured not only by athletic performance, but also by character, respect, and teamwork. Every athlete represents the team on and off the slopes. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations that help create a safe, positive, and supportive environment for everyone.

 

Sportsmanship

• Treat all teammates, coaches, parents, volunteers, resort employees, competition officials opponents, spectators, and members of the public with respect and courtesy.

• Display good sportsmanship at all times, both on and off the slopes.

• Celebrate successes and support teammates.

Safety

• Follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided by coaches and officials.

• Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others.

• Report any safety concerns, injuries, or hazards to a coach as soon as possible.

• Wear required safety equipment and use it properly at all times.

Discipline & Commitment

• Attend all practices, competitions, and team events, unless prior arrangements have been made with a coach or there are unavoidable circumstances.

• Arrive on time and be prepared for all training sessions and competitions.

• Give full effort and maintain focus during training and competitions.

Teamwork

• Foster a positive team environment by supporting and encouraging teammates.

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with coaches and teammates.

• Respect the decisions and instructions of coaches and team officials.

• Welcome and encourage newer athletes.

​

Integrity

• Compete fairly and within the rules of the sport.

• Avoid any form of cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct.

• Uphold the reputation of the team, both on and off the slopes.

• Demonstrate honesty, fairness, and respect in all aspects of training and competition.

Conduct

• Represent the Hidden Valley Ski Team and its sponsors with integrity and good judgment at practices, competitions, team events, and in the community.

​

Communication

• Maintain open and respectful communication with coaches, teammates, and officials.

• Express concerns or issues in a constructive manner, seeking resolution through proper channels.

• Respond promptly to communications from coaches when a response is requested.

• Communicate respectfully in person, by text, email, and on social media.

Social Media & Digital Conduct

• Athletes are expected to use good judgment when posting on social media or     communicating electronically.

• Be respectful of teammates, coaches, competitors, officials, and the Hidden Valley Ski Team. 

• Do not post content that is offensive, discriminatory, bullying, or that could harm the reputation of the Hidden Valley Ski Team.

• Do not share photos or videos of teammates without their permission.

• Remember that online behavior reflects on both the individual and the team.

Bullying & Harassment 

• Bullying, hazing, intimidation, harassment, discrimination, or retaliation of any kind will not be tolerated.

• Athletes who experience or witness bullying, harassment, or unsafe behavior are   encouraged to report their concerns to a coach or board member.

• Any behavior that threatens the safety or well-being of another person may result in immediate disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the team.

Personal Conduct

• Be a positive role model for the team and the skiing community.

• Make choices that support your health, safety, and athletic performance.

• Respect the rules and regulations of training facilities, accommodations, and competition venues.

• The use or possession of tobacco products, e-cigarettes, or vaping devices, alcohol, illegal drugs, or other prohibited substances is not permitted at any team activity or event.                

• Violations may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the team.

Compliance

• Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to skiing and team participation.

• Familiarize yourself with and abide by the rules and regulations of relevant governing bodies.

Violations

Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, which may include:

• Verbal warning 

• Meeting with the athlete and parent(s)/guardian(s)

• Suspension from practices or competitions 

• Dismissal from the team 

 

The Board of Directors and coaching staff reserve the right to determine appropriate disciplinary action based on the severity and circumstances of the violation.

 

By following this Code of Conduct, every athlete helps create a team culture built on respect, sportsmanship, safety, and a shared commitment to excellence. Together, we can ensure that the Hidden Valley Ski Team is a positive and rewarding experience for everyone.

Participation on the Hidden Valley Ski Team is a privilege, not a right. Athletes and parents are expected to understand and abide by this Code of Conduct throughout the season.
